Description: The Weird Al Show, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Hamster” Sample Script, 1/28/1997. Writing edits, suggestions and drawings, are by John Paragon, making this a very rare script and a lot of fun to read through! I have to guess that John was helping Al Yankovic and Steve Lookner with the script. Reviewing it by adding suggestions, edits and fun drawings. Included is a copy of John’s hand writing so you can tell, he really did add the comments. John appeared in UHF as Richard Fletcher, 1989, and had worked with Al on other projects. I found this link regarding this episode of the show, I believe it explains the dating of the sample script. Since the actual episode aired 11/15/1997. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0745264/ “This, the tenth episode, was intended to be the first, which explains a lot of the explaining, Al Yankovic and his crew had intended this to be the first episode, but as they reveal in the DVD commentary track, the network hated it and nearly prevented it from being aired at all. Anyway, this explains why the script seems to over-explain things already well established, such as the concept of Al leaving us (his audience) to go watch TV, while allowing us to watch the shows with him. As usual these TV segments are the best things in an otherwise tepid show.” The script is in pretty good condition, cover is a little loose at the top and the edges are worn.
