Tommy Gott and His Rose Room Orchestra Tony Parenti (1928 - 31) CD

Description: ' Arlan Thomas "Tommy" Gott (March 2, 1895, Waveland, Indiana – January 3, 1965) was an American jazz musician (cornet, trumpet) and orchestra leader. Gott played on hundreds of recordings. He was one of the most in-demand session men of his time. Gott performed sometimes as leader, but mostly as a sideman. In 1929 he recorded under his own name. Released as Tommy Gott and His Rose Room Orchestra for Banner / Okeh Records, a contributing musician was Tony Parenti. This CD releases the majority of the Rose Room recordings on The Banner and Crown Label. This was a budget label that sold for 25 cents. It was created primarily for the S.S. Kresge Company. These date from the late 1920’s into the early 1930’s. There is alot of hot playing from Tommy Gott on these discs. In the mid-1940s, Gott lived on the West Coast of the United States. The last jazz recordings were made in 1945 by Paul Whiteman for Capitol Records. In the field of jazz, he was involved in 189 recording sessions between 1920 and 1945. Tommy Gott died in San Joaquin County, January 3, 1965 at the age of 69. All have been digitally restored by Vintage Recordings.
