Description: VERY RARE 1st MODEL 1903-1904 1896 CHECK 3” HARDY BOUGLE HIDUMINIUM FISHING REEL This little reel is in exceptionally good condition considering its age. It has the all important ‘H’ stamp inside it indicating it is made from Hiduminum. This has the 1896 check inside meaning it is a very 1st 1903-1904 model. The ‘C’ spring is silver nickel plated and another thing some one pointed out to me is the main gear cog is very sharp at the points. Hardy didn’t do this for long as it caused problems. There is no corrosion to this at all being made of much higher grade material. The only minor point is there is some grooving next to the roller pillar which is not bad at all and the name stamp appears to have been done twice! All in all, a very rare example indeed.
