Description: This gorgeous late 1940s fit and flare dress by Carlye features a stitched yoke, tie sleeve cuffs, and whimsical purple oval buttons! The lightweight and breathable natural silk has a lovely sheen, and the skirt is gathered in dramatic pleating. Vintage tailoring and attention to detail meets easy to wear styling to create a versatile, and classically timeless, dress that you will love! Good overall condition. A one and a half inch tear and a half inch tear at back of skirt (both are visible in last photograph), and a half inch tear at right side of skirt (17th photograp)- all of which get lost in the pleats. A small hole at each corner of back yoke stitching (close up 16th photo). Minor wear under arms. A few scattered very small spots. Button front and hook and loop closure at neck. Metal zip and snap at side pocket. Purple string belt loops. Belt has been lost to time. Fabric has little stretch. Best fit modern sizes 4 and 6. Shoulder to shoulder is 17 inches, chest is 38 inches, waist is 26 inches, and hips are 48 inches. Shoulder to hem is 44 inches, and waist to hem measures 27 inches.
