Description: For your consideration today we're offering a vintage duster coat from J. PETERMAN. This is their Edwardian Motoring Duster and was offered ca. 2009 in the J. Peterman catalogue. I'm a costume designer by trade, and hands down, this is one of the most authentically Edwardian styled garments I've had the pleasure of seeing by a contemporary company (J. Peterman did high quality repro clothing in the 1990's, early 2000's). Back in the day, duster coats were meant to be worn while driving your new Model T Fords on country roads. It offered full coverage to keep dust from soiling your dainty frocks or dapper suits. Motoring dusters were crafted of serviceable fabrics like cotton and linen and wool. Colors were usually khaki or natural linen as the dirt doesn't show up as much on these colors. This J. P. version is made of substantial 100% cotton twill with two front on-seam pockets. Color is light khaki.Front closure buttons all the way up to the collar. This collar can be left open or buttoned; either way provides authentic Edwardian style. NOTE: This measures out to be a very small Ladies size 16. It would probably fit a Women's size 12 or small - sized 14 best. If you have a thicker waist, this is probably not the coat for you. Duster is designed with a fitted 8-panel Princess Cut and provides a distinct hourglass shape.
