Description: Exceptionally rare steampunk round-lens Maui-Jim sunglasses. Pre-owned, but used only three times. Otherwise kept in original case, so both the glasses and their case are in near-mint (as purchased) condition. To give a marvelous steampunk aesthetic in the design, slight undulations and "duress" in the materials were part of the as-purchased condition, so that is not damage. As seen in the image, the nose bridge is styled in leather. Unlike cheaper fashion glasses of a similar style, the side shields of these glasses are made of metal and rotate into place. In their original condition, when purchased in the mid 2000s from a high-end spectacle vendor in Salt Lake City, the metal parts were more shiny than shown in these images. However, because tarnish of metal is often desirable in vintage objects, no effort has been made to clean away the slight oxidation evident in the photos. If you wish to remove that oxidation, simply use a high-quality silver cleaner, but you might want to consult with your favorite antiquities dealer before reducing auction value by doing so! These glasses are currently configured for a medium to small head size, but the ear pieces appear to be adjustable to other sizes. That conjecture has not been tested because these glasses had a good size for the original owner.
