I’ve been restoring and remanufacturing swamp coolers for half a decade. I have remanufactured many parts for availability to the public as well as located some limited extra original parts from coolers I disassembled. This listing is for a basket recoil Spring & Axle. 100% new. Installation is pretty straightforward, although loading can be tricky. Watch how to do it here: https://youtu.be/WmvUTxSTws8 With this complete recoil spring and axle unit all you have to do is unbolt the back end cap untie or cut your cord, slide the inner end cap and rod and filter basket out as one unit. Reattach the spring, insert the axle into the spring THROUGH the back of the basket and out the front basket axle hole. The re-install the front spring tip, and attach the axle to the back end cap (between 2 nuts) Then insert the basket rod and end cap unit. Retie the pull cord end outside then loosen the basket rod and rotate the rod clockwise which should wind up the cord and tension the basket retraction.
