Description: - 1948 - --- VOLUNTEER FIREMEN --- Full Mint, Never Hinged, Sheet of 50 Postage Stamps Issued on October 4th, 1948, these U.S. Postage Stamps commemorated the 300th anniversary of the first Volunteer Firefighting organization in America. The group was organized by Peter Stuyvesant in New Amsterdam (now New York) in 1648. The stamps show the progress in firefighting equipment, featuring and early pumper to the left of Stuyvesant's portrait and a "modern" (1948) engine on the right. Please note that the sheet pictured is a stock scan. The sheet you will receive has full, unmarked, selvage (including corners) and undisturbed original gum. It's guaranteed to be just as fresh as when it was purchased in a post office 75 years ago. It would look especially nice framed (with selvage, it measures approximately 10 1/4 by 9 inches) and would make a great gift. All our sheets are shipped flat in individual, archival-grade, crystal clear plastic sheet protectors. These protectors are necessary to protect your sheet from damage due to handling and to protect its gum should you decide to frame it. - Satisfaction 100% Guaranteed - - Please note that this is a stock scan - Payment and Shipping Information FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING! - - - When purchasing multiple items, please click "Add to Cart" on each item so that they can be checked out with one, combined, payment (rather than paying for each item individually).
