Description: This is a small wooden box with a sliding lid. It measures 2-7/8" x 2-1/2" x 1-9/16". The lid carries a series of Japanese or Chinese characters. The ones in the lower left are 山田屋特選 which translates to "Yamadaya Special Selection". A Google search of this turns up nothing specific, but there is a ramen soup company and several hotels named Yamadaya, so it may have held ingredients or soap. The box is not fancy; the construction is pretty rough, but sturdy. The lid slides easily. This comes from a smoke-free home.
